A New Tide

A New Tide

Image result for jensen beach refugees pictures

A poem by one of our members:

There is a new tide washing on our shores
Floating shattered souls our way
A flotsam of broken dreamsAnd we are so afraid
So afraid of the loss of hope
So afraid of the hungry eyes
So afraid that we too will be washed away
In that unstoppable tideThere is a new tide washing on our shores
Abandoning broken babies on the beach
A jetsum of new lives wasted. And we are so afraid
So afraid of the desperate need
So afraid of the pleading hands
So afraid that we too will be drowned
In that unstoppable tideThere is a new tide washing on our shores
Unanchored children cast adrift
Innocence flung away beneath the wavesAnd we are so afraid
So afraid of the hurt and fear
So afraid of the dogs of war
So afraid that we will be forever lost
In that unstoppable tide

But we can make a new tide on our shores
A new tide bringing hope and cheer
A new tide reaching out a helping hand
A new tide offering future life

So Let us turn this tide
Then we will no longer fear
