The Pick, The Spade and the Crow
By Bill Rogers
After ten excellent police procedural novels featuring Tom Caton, as his main character, author Bill Rogers now takes us, along with one of Tom’s old team, into the National Crime Agency.
Senior Investigator, Jo Stuart begins an investigation into the death of a man, whose body is discovered in woodlands outside Manchester, ten years after he disappeared. The investigation uncovers links to other disappearances and when another murder takes place it appears there is a savage serial killer at work.
Jo is well developed, a particularly strong female character by a male author.
The back stories are interesting but we never lose sight of the main story-line with all Bill’s usual meticulous attention to detail and well established knowledge of police methods and procedures.
